After the successful debut album Big Enough and accompanying tour, Mooneye dove into the studio in late 2022 for a follow-up, and for that frontman Michiel Libberecht wanted to return to the essence of the band: intimacy from an acoustic base.
He drew inspiration from the American way of songwriting, with elements from folk and country, and influences such as Kevin Morby, the acoustic Beck and soundtracks by Morricone and Luppi.
Juniper's music starts from intimate lyrics and builds on them musically, searching for a balance between melancholic feelings and compelling melodies. Think of a mix of Jade Bird, Lizzy McAlpine with a touch of Taylor Swift.
For this support, Flo and Jonas bring Juniper's music back to its essence, where voice and guitar are poured over spherical sounds.
The result is a stunning, varied yet coherent album. Libberecht gets more personal and shows himself to be a purebred storyteller in every song. "This is very close to who I am," he says, "with a broad musical palette of what Mooneye is and can be in the future.
With new songs, hits like "Bright Lights," "Fix The Heater" and "Thinking About Leaving," beloved album tracks and a band that is perfectly attuned to each other after years, a top musical evening is guaranteed. Those who want to witness this, best not wait too long for a ticket.
