The jazz piano trio of today

American pianist and composer Vijay Iyer is one of the most original and interesting jazz artists working today. Since the debut of his Trio, Downbeats "Jazz Album of the Year" in 2021, it has become "the great new jazz piano trio" (The New York Times) with "cutting-edge music, but always accessible" (The Guardian).

Compassion, Vijay Iyer's eighth album as leader on ECM Records, is a continuation of his quest to explore new territory while paying homage to his ancestors. The album includes homages to Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea and Roscoe Mitchell, as well as Iyer's own compositions.
