What exactly happens when time expands? During the midsummer night, Codex Au Soleil will take you on a special sound journey, mixing medieval ars subtilior with jazz improvisation and electronics.
From sunset to sunrise - while you lie stretched out on mats and pillows and dream. In the morning, reminisce over a delicious breakfast in the foyer.
Slowing down as a ritual
In a world that goes faster and faster, slowing down is the message. Come lie back, bring your pillow and mat and experience the magical feeling of experiencing the night.
Bassist/composer Lennart Heyndels and his for the occasion extra large ensemble bring their interpretation of a selection of medieval music, stretched over a full night. The meditative atmosphere invites you to surrender completely to the world of sound. The music becomes a ritual, a timeless space in which past and present merge.

With Codex au Soleil, the Lennart Heyndels Quartet bridges the gap between medieval ars subtilior and the present. This project interweaves early music with contemporary improvisation, experimental arrangements, and innovative sonic experiments. The result is a musical universe that feels both familiar and groundbreaking.
At the heart of Codex au Soleil is the interpretation of the medieval score. The quartet uses fragments of this historical music as building blocks for new compositions. Rearranging these fragments and enriching them with contemporary techniques - both acoustic and electronic - creates a unique symbiosis between tradition and modernity.
Codex au Soleil invites listeners to rediscover music - not as a static work of art, but as a living dialog through the ages.
