Paolo Angeli
Paolo Angeli learned the ancient Sardinian musical forms of his native land from the then already elderly guitarist Giovanni Scanu. He mixes that tradition with other influences on his prepared guitar. This includes remnants of the Sardinian 'canto a chitarra' and 'tasgia' choruses as well as free jazz, punk noise, drum & bass and avant pop.
"His solo concert was impressive not only for the unique sounds that he was manifesting, but also for the raw creative energy that it invoked." (Pat Metheny)
Hendrik Lasure (album release)
When keyboardist Hendrik Lasure isn't on stage in bands like schntzl, Bombataz, An Pierlé Quartet and Thunderblender, you'll find him somewhere in theater or as a film score composer. At Het Wiel, he breaks out of his own shell and lays his soul on the table. Get ready for the album release!
After a dozen instrumental albums, Lasure is playing with language for the first time, and then his own spoken language: not cleaned up, not prettified. The music is as intimate as possible and any kind of virtuosity is avoided. Christian imagery is flirted with and the music is reminiscent of 1970s kleinkunst. For fans of Jules De Corte, Boudewijn De Groot but also Elliott Smith and PJ Harvey.
