Boomtown: Gabriel Rios

Quirky and eclectic Latin pop

Our favorite Puerto Rican Gentile Gabriel Rios has been conquering our hearts for years with his quirky and eclectic Latin pop on such gem albums as Ghostboy and This Marauder's Midnight. Singles like "Broad Daylight" and "Gold" are impossible to forget from our musical memory.

With Flore he may add a new album to his rich oeuvre. It is an ode to the music of Latin America and the Caribbean. His craftsmanship floats to the surface again immediately: he manages to restore old Latin classics in his own way. Some songs recall the traditional Nuyorican salsa of the 1960s; others are inspired by old popular ballads from Mexico and Cuba.
