Boomtown: Willy Mason

Singer-songwriter with the cynicism of grunge and punk

Singer-songwriter Willy Mason grew up with folk, but spent his teenage years with bands like Nirvana and Rage Against The Machine. So it was no surprise that when he finally stepped on a stage as a 19-year-old, he sounded like a Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, with the cynicism of grunge and punk.

With great songs like "Oxygen," he was quickly embraced by the indie world. Tours followed with bands such as Bright Eyes (by Conor Oberst), My Morning Jacket, Beth Orton, Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard and Death Cab For Cutie. Just to name a few.

In 2021, Mason released Already Dead, featuring the great single "Youth On A Spit. His performance at Democrazy in late 2022 was completely sold out. Be sure to be there this time!
