B'Rock Orchestra & Vocal Consort - Life & Death

The great themes of life invariably lead to great art; many classical composers were inspired by them. In a well-balanced program, together with the B'Rock Orchestra, you will navigate between joy and intense sorrow, between life and death.

Finnish composer and jazz guitarist Kalle Kalima joins B'Rock again after the five-star rated opera production "Dido & Aeneas Remembered." He is composing new work that connects the Bach atmosphere of the program, creating a musical journey through a sound world of transfiguration and death.

Top Dutch soprano Olivia Vermeulen shines in the most expressive arias from German and English Baroque music. Among them are some gems that never lose their luster, such as "When I am laid" from Dido and Aeneas and "Tief gebückt und voller Reue" from the cantata of Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut.

Life & Death
Olivia Vermeulen (mezzo-soprano), Kalle Kalima (electric guitar, composition), Andreas Küppers (keys, artistic direction), Cecilia Bernardini (concertmaster)
