This concert takes place in the entrance hall of the S.M.A.K. - Jan Hoetplein 1, 9000 Ghent
Every first Thursday of the month, Ha Concerts and S.M.A.K. join forces for the “Late Thursday” series. The museum stays open until 10 p.m., with a free acoustic concert in the entrance hall. Contemporary art and stimulating music come together in an intimate but unique atmosphere.
Expect quirky contemporary art late into the night and enticing acoustic concerts in an intimate setting.
Following her symphony for city sounds, composed with and based on an idea by artist Thomas Verstraeten, Heleen Van Haegenborgh has reworked the material into a new live experience.
She mixes the recordings with synths and electronics, together with London-based pianist and improviser Saori Miraku. Their meeting through the Musarc choir led to this first joint performance, in which symphonic echoes and improvisation merge into a fresh soundscape.
