Pianist Karel Cuelenaere (Black Flower, John Ghost, Ping O.D.) is at the forefront of the new Belgian jazz generation. Building on the rich Belgian jazz heritage of Aka Moon, Octurn and Jozef Dumoulin, he is taking this tradition to new heights.
With his KCT - the Karel Cuelenaere Trio - he concentrates entirely on the grand piano, infusing his music with the melancholy of "saudade".

In 2025, Kabas will celebrate its tenth anniversary! The band grew out of a mutual interest in composition and building a solid foundation for free improvisation. Ten years later, all members have achieved status in the Belgian music scene, each in many separate projects and genres. Yet the group persists. Each time they reinvent themselves, not as a tool, but as their default mode.
On this anniversary, they present their new album 'Sun Dog' - named after the optical, almost magical phenomenon caused by the interaction of light with ice crystals. They play with the idea of time and the axioms of how improvised music "should" sound. We are intrigued!
