New album

Do we need to introduce The Sixth Metal at length? With classics such as 'Ploegsteert', 'Naar De Wuppe' and 'Tid Van Ton', and acclaimed and award-winning albums such as 'Nie Voe Kinders', 'Calais' and 'Skepsels', the band around Wannes Cappelle has become an indispensable part of the Belgian musical landscape. Soon 'Het langste jaar' will be released, the band's sixth album already, and born in emotional circumstances.

In mid-2022, the news of guitarist and keyboardist Tom Pintens's incurable illness hit like a bomb, and it inspired the band to make an album in the intimacy of their own circle. Pintens put on the hat of producer and led the band into the studio the following summer to give their all one last time.

A month after recording, he died. 'The Longest Year' has become a musical reflection of the fiercest period in the band's history, but at the same time it is probably Het Zesde Metaal's most melodic record, with more room than ever for delicate but extremely efficient arrangements. We can already hear you humming along!

Support: Rosie Stuart

Until mid-January, VI.BE was running a contest run by Baloise on Stage and Het Zesde Metaal with the aim of discovering new musical talent. Het Zesde Metaal did a lot of listening, deliberating and more listening... And they came to a decision. Out of 221 entries, Rosie Stuart was chosen as the winner of the contest.

Rosie is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Ghent who draws inspiration from King Hannah, PJ Harvey, Sinéad O'Connor and Courtney Barnett. Her song will soon be refined and produced with the coaching of Het Zesde Metaal.

Wannes Capelle: "Even the ramshackle demo of 'Vegan' couldn't hide the fact that Rosie possesses a rare combination of self-deprecation, punk attitude and great class."
