Fado world star
Cristina Branco continues to prove that she is one of the greatest fadistas of our time. Throughout her illustruous career of 25 years, she gave traditional Portuguese folklore a new voice. She developed a completely unique style with references to jazz, pop and world music. Moreover, she surrounds herself with the most talented contemporary musicians from her home country.
Her 2020 album EVA was followed in 2022 by Amoras numa Tarde de Outono. This as a tribute to her collaboration with pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva, with whom she has been developing live songs for 20 years. A new album is expected in the fall of 2023. So that bodes well for her concert in Ghent.
Cristina Branco moves in a strongly conservative and traditional movement: Portuguese fado music. In this she is supported by an impressive collection of lyricists and timeless poets, as well as her talented musicians who make every concert a true happening.
She has released more than ten albums and has played more than hundreds of concerts around the world. It already earned her the prize for 'Best Album 2017' by the Portuguese Authors Society and a nomination for a Golden Globe for 'Best Individual Interpretation'.
