Finnish-Dutch trio Peltomaa Fraanje Perkola immerses the listener in an esoteric and timeless sound bath.
With viola da gamba, medieval harp, the human voice and electronic sound effects, they blend Finnish folk songs and music from the Middle Ages with jazz and their own compositions. They present their new album Komorebi (Outhere Music).
On this second album, the trio takes a direction toward more of their own compositions, in combination with medieval chants from the northern Bridgettine songbook "Cantus Sororum" and Finnish poetry.
Sunlight through the canopy
The name Komorebi refers to three Japanese words 木 (ko), 漏れ (lake), and 日(bi). It can be described as "to the sunlight shining through the trees" and beautifully captures the interplay between the light and the leaves, and nature in all its wisdom.
