Winner of the 2019 YAM Public Choice Award
Following the international hit Mile(s)tones, about Miles Davis, Zonzo Compagnie returned with a production centred on another legendary jazz musician: Thelonious Monk. The equally headstrong and brilliant Monk created music full of surprising harmonies and adventurous rhythms.
Musicians from the renowned jazz trio De Beren Gieren take you into the unique musical world of the New York jazz hero. Against an impressive video backdrop featuring images by Nele Fack, they draw you into Thelonious’s urge to experiment and reveal ever-changing facets of this fascinating musician.
Jump aboard this bebop train with the “Genius of Modern Music” and get under Thelonious’s skin. Destination unknown, but a wild ride guaranteed.
