Hihats In Trees is the solo project of drummer and producer Lander Gyselinck (Lander & Adriaan, STUFF., BeraadGeslagen). Drawing on his doctoral research, he has developed his own approach to beat culture, built entirely from acoustic, non-synthetic sounds. HHIT takes its cue from a ‘club music’ philosophy, but translates this into percussion, rhythm and physical interaction.
Influenced by gqom, Detroit techno, hip-hop and ambient, Gyselinck balances dancefloor dynamics with a more ritualistic, introspective approach. For this live version, he has assembled an ensemble of four percussionists, performing both existing and new material in a tight, compelling set.
