In 2025, Sara Salvérius’s grandfather announced the day and hour of his death. He had requested euthanasia and therefore knew exactly when he would breathe his last. For Sara, the foreshadowing of this impending farewell marked not only the beginning of a personal grieving process, but also the start of a quest to discover the cadence that gives rhythm to every life: the breath.
Driven by the ambition to write for a larger ensemble once more, she brings together four wind players from diverse backgrounds. Together they explore the wind that rushes through their instruments – sometimes with the wistful tone of a whispered final word, sometimes with the exuberant character of a fanfare. Between composition and improvisation, they celebrate life, farewell and death. For everything is breath.
