Five years after his last solo album, Flip Kowlier returns with *Arme Zundaers*, an album in which Kowlier stays close to the human experience. His focus is on Mark, a man on the fringes of society, whose good intentions are sometimes overshadowed by a flawed moral compass. Musically, the album navigates between rootsy rhythms and poppy melodies, with blues and New Orleans vibes at its core.
This time around, Kowlier wanted above all to hear a band play. No overproduced affair—just a group of musicians responding to each other’s energy. Arme Zundaers captures that organic warmth perfectly. At times delightfully subtle, at others pleasantly bombastic.
In the spring of 2027, Flip Kowlier will tour Belgium solo with Arme Zundaers under his arm and his trusted musicians by his side. “I can get pretty sentimental about how special it is to make music live. The fact that we’ll soon be on stage together again feels all the more precious in this age of AI.” Amen.
