New music does not arise by itself. Behind the scenes, we often open doors for musicians to do what they love most: play, grow and deepen their practice. Sometimes we also take the initiative ourselves and bring musicians together to create something new.
Within the broader field of the performing arts, we actively contribute to development through projects focused on reflection and exchange.
TO ALL STORIES AND PROJECTS RELATED TO OUTREACH
In this specific form of Outreach, we are closely involved in the production and creation process. We bring musicians together, support them in their artistic quest, seek suitable partners and offer rehearsal space in-house. With us, the creation not only takes shape, but also finds a place on stage.
For example, we brought together the band House of Wu Fei, which was followed by a residency, premiere and a Green Pilot Tours throughout Europe. In the 2025-2026 season, the focus will be on the productions Echo's van de bergen en Bries.
By ‘Outreach’, we mean forms of support that take place outside our own walls. This ranges from co-productions that we help to facilitate to projects in which we invite musicians to participate in European tours. In this way, we actively contribute to the future of their music, even outside our own venues.
Among other things, we contributed to the creation of the productions Wij hier samen ook morgen (We'll be here together tomorrow), GABBRO and Lady Sapiens, and we supported Mattias De Craene in his Gnawa project via Stepping Stone.
In this specific form of Outreach, we actively participate in the broader conversation about music and its role in society. We organise conferences, support research and create space for dialogue between creators, thinkers and audiences. From panel discussions and artist talks to publications and knowledge sharing: this is how we contribute to a field that continues to reflect, question and develop.
In 2022, for example, we organised the Play Ground conference and in 2024 we hosted the prestigious European Jazz Conference.
