New music does not arise spontaneously. Behind the scenes, we open doors for musicians, enabling them to do what they love most: play, grow, and develop their practice. Sometimes, we also take the initiative and bring musicians together to create something new.
Within the broader performing arts field, we actively contribute to development through projects focused on reflection and exchange.
TO ALL STORIES AND PROJECTS RELATED TO OUTREACH
In this form of outreach, we play a key role in the production and creation process. We bring musicians together, support them in their artistic endeavours, seek suitable partners for them, and provide them with rehearsal space. With us, creations not only take shape, but also find a place on stage.
For example, we brought together the House of Wu Fei band, after which they enjoyed a residency, a premiere and selection for the Green Pilot Tour through Europe. The 2025–26 season will focus on the productions Echo's van de Bergen and Bries.
By 'outreach', we mean forms of support that take place outside our own organisation. These range from co-productions that we facilitate to projects in which we invite musicians to participate in European tours. In this way, we actively contribute to the future of their music, even beyond our own venues.
We contributed to the creation of the productions Wij hier samen ook morgen (We'll Be Here Together Tomorrow), GABBRO, and Lady Sapiens. We also supported Mattias De Craene's Gnawa project via Stepping Stone.
In this form of outreach, we actively participate in the wider conversation about music and its role in society. We organise conferences, support research, and facilitate dialogue between creators, thinkers, and the public. Our contributions take many forms, from panel discussions and artist talks to publications and knowledge sharing, and help to ensure that the field continues to reflect, question and develop.
For example, we organised the Playground Conference in 2022 and will be hosting the prestigious European Jazz Conference in 2024.
