At Ha, we believe in the importance of providing artists with sustainable support. That is why we offer three types of residency, enabling us to support the diverse needs and trajectories of creators.
As a breeding ground for new music and cultural experimentation, we provide residents with the time, space and guidance they need to create, grow and immerse themselves in their practice.
Each season, we select an artist-in-residence who will work closely with us throughout the year. We provide time and space, as well as tailored support, including rehearsals, residencies, collaborations and new creations. We open our doors literally and figuratively to anyone who wants to explore, experiment, and develop their artistic practice further.
In recent years, we have collaborated with Lara Rosseel, Louise van den Heuvel and Nabou Claerhout. For the 2025–26 season, we are delighted to introduce singer Helena Casella.
A week-long residency is when an artist or band is given access to our rehearsal space for a set period of time. With a view of the beautiful Kouter, they can work on their project in the Hoofdwacht. Because it takes time and space to grow. In recent years, we have welcomed Steiger, Berlinde Deman, Sjahin During, Astrid Creve, the Ragini Trio, Volpe, Kin Gajo and others.
The organisation-in-residence is Mais Quelle Chanson. Based in our building, they teach children to sing in Ha and the surrounding areas of Ghent. They run weekly sessions in our halls and organise fun music camps throughout the year, so they are an integral part of our education programme.
