For over three decades, Şevval Sam has been one of the leading figures in Turkish music. Drawing on this wealth of experience, she presents a concert that effortlessly shifts between Black Sea folk, arabesk, tango and rock. Her music is layered and rhythmic, featuring clear melodies and modern arrangements that do not rigidly adhere to tradition, but rather break new ground.
So don’t expect a nostalgic look back, but a lively programme in which tradition and the present merge naturally. With her powerful, distinctive voice and a versatile band, Sam sounds both earthy and urban: from understated folk songs to energetic tracks with a rock edge. An evening full of contrast, rhythm and vocal precision.
