Jazz, hip-hop and manga in one blistering universe

Kin Gajo combines a fresh jazz sound with electronic influences, hip-hop grooves and manga aesthetics. On their debut EP Āku (W.E.R.F. Records), they build a colorful sonic universe that is enhanced live with original visuals. Winner of Jazz Talent Ghent 2024 - with Ha on the jury.

Kin Gajo mixes contemporary jazz with hip-hop beats, inventive electronics and a metropolitan flair. Their debut EP Āku immediately attracted attention: none other than DJ and producer Lefto included their work in his compilation Jazz Cats Vol. 3, highlighting the latest wave of jazz from Brussels.

For their new tour, they team up with visual artist Moon, who draws a manga inspired by Kin Gajo's music. The result is a unique physical release on vinyl and paper: jazz and cartoon meet in a cross between Belgian creativity and Japanese visual poetry.

This Ghent-based trio straddles the boundary between jazz, electronic music, and film scores. They are presenting their second album, Everything is in Everything Else, released by the Ghent label Icarus Records.

The group is presented as the “new brainchild of Thom Yorke, Nils Frahm, and Mark Guiliana,” and that's not far from the truth. We also hear the idiosyncratic rhythms of STUFF. and the soundscapes of Floating Points in their music. De Standaard
