A world of integrity on solo double bass

With *Fantômes… Futurs*, Kham Meslien presents a solo project that rarely feels like a solo performance. Armed with double bass, looper, effects, charango and percussion, he constructs layered compositions in which silence, resonance and melody take centre stage. The music moves freely between melancholic jazz, pop, bossa nova, free improvisation and world rhythms, with a strongly cinematic character and a distinct sense of space.

Critics praise Meslien as “a quirky and generous musician” (Télérama), whose music “oscillates between shadow and light” (Jazz Rhône-Alpes). His powerfully evocative playing conjures up landscapes and transforms the double bass solo into a world unto itself: intense, introspective and carried by time and vibration.
