Soundscapes between stillness and ecstasy
You know drummer Karen Willems from her adventures with Yuko, Zita Swoon Group and Jan Swerts, among others. With Inwolves, she already explored a world of her own, but recently she has been on an even stronger quest for the essence of her practice with Terre Sol.
Together with saxophonists Vincent Brijs, Marc De Maeseneer and John Snauwaert, she explores the terrain between gnarly jazz and solid rock, with thunderous repetitions, ecstatic cries and an unstoppable drive. They present the double album Grichte (May 2022, WERF Records).
Just like on the lp, Karen first plays a solo, then follows the band.
