Two donkeys write, fifteen donkeys and donkeyesses play. With a brand new batch of compositions, Peter Vermeersch and Peter Vandenberghe continue to build on the dazzling world of FES. Their new project MISSA ASINORUM revolves around length, endless repetition, refinement and starting over: music as a circular movement, always on the move, never really finished.
From the biting satire of “Donkey Fever” – a musical Ouroboros about Pinocchio's donkey ears – to the existential questions in “No Side Left” and “Washaway”, where nature gives voice to its own demise and rebirth: this is FES at full throttle, balancing between absurdism and emotion. Prick up your ears, donkeys of all countries, it's “corner time for everyone”.
For fans of FES, Frank Zappa, Sun Ra Arkestra and John Zorn.
