We know Jelle Denturck as the fiery frontman of DIRK., but under the name Dressed Like Boys, he shows a completely different side of himself. His self-titled debut is an intimate, personal album in which he turns down the volume and makes room for melancholy, honesty, and fragile beauty.
Denturck sings about love, friendship, freedom, and loss, but also about his own search for identity and acceptance. Musically, he harks back to the atmosphere of the 1970s—think Bowie, Elton John, or Sufjan Stevens—but with a DIY approach that includes tape recordings, Wurlitzers, strings, and homemade drum sounds. The result: warm, timeless songs that sound both fragile and grand.
Meet Frans Kalf, who will take you on a journey to a world full of little surprises. Inspired by greats such as Maarten Van Roozendaal, Ramses Shaffy, Jacques Brel, and Serge Gainsbourg, he serves up poetic and humorous songs about broken hearts, awkward moments, and unexpected smiles. Half Amsterdammer, half Ghent native, he moves, surprises, and is just a little bit different than you might expect.
