Without being modest, we can safely say that this evening we will have the most praised Israeli singer, Chava Alberstein. Since the late 1960s, Chava has been the leading lady in the Hebrew and Yiddish genre, with no fewer than 54 albums to her name, some of which were awarded gold. Alberstein honors tradition, but is not shy about exploring or even exceeding the boundaries of that same tradition. This is evident from her collaboration with The Klezmatics, which was immortalized in the remarkable album The Well. In addition to being an exceptionally talented singer, Alberstein is also a peace activist who does not hesitate to criticize the precarious situation in her country in her songs and interviews. A great lady, that is beyond doubt.
