Benjamin Sauzereau REMORQUE - between jazz and chamber music

Versatile guitarist Benjamin Sauzereau brought together a series of miniature landscapes in ‘Remorque’. He juxtaposes these with the unusual combination of two guitars and two strings. Jazz as chamber music, full of colours and textures, with room for nuance, imagination and poetry. The album will be released in September by W.E.R.F. Records.

Brussels-based Sauzereau (Les Chroniques de l'Inutile, Warm Bath, Book of Air, Fur) is active across the full spectrum, from elegant jazz to spirited improvisation. In his ‘Remorque’, he usually collected short but lively compositions with a wealth of colours and atmospheres. He aims to perform them with different line-ups each time. On this evening, the strings get the upper hand - sometimes lyrical and thoughtful, sometimes frivolous, playful or a bit prickly.

Gabbro’s Groundspeed – musical road trip

With her ever-changing collective g a b b r o, saxophonist Hanne De Backer explores the impact of improvised music on the environment and vice versa. Together with drummer Casper Van De Velde, she traveled through Europe improvising, along misty paths and busy highways, deep into the woods. With a bag full of field recordings, this led to the fourth album Groundspeed.

g a b b r o has organized concerts and recordings in sewer systems, laundromats, a prison, and along the Belgian coastline with a camel (As We Walk, 2023). For Groundspeed, the journey took them to the eponymous and mysterious village of Gabbro in Italy. Along the way, they met musical friends. Among them was guitar hero Raphael Vanoli, who accompanies them on their journey of discovery of recognizable melodies and elusive sounds.
