With their mix of electronica, art pop, Afro pop, saudade and alternative Latin, Ão has become one of the most impressive acts on the Belgian music scene. The quartet has grown into a groundbreaking, unique voice that defies any genre label, as Stromae, Rosalía and C. Tangana did before them.
Brenda Corijn draws on her Mozambican-Portuguese roots and sings in Portuguese and English. Her warm voice blends with Siebe Chau's southern guitar playing, Jolan Decaestecker's layered electronics and Bert Peyffers' eclectic percussion work. Live, Ão creates an experience that enchants audiences across Europe. Their dynamic sound, ranging from fragile melodies to danceable beats, immerses you in a mesmerising world where reality gradually fades away.
Malandra, Ão's new album, will be released on 13 February 2026. A malandra is a woman who navigates life with humour, sharpness and playfulness: not always well-behaved, but always true to herself. With Malandra, Ão honours complexity and the search for meaning in all its forms. The music sounds more layered, more rhythmic, more playful, more tender and harder than on their debut album Ao Mar. On 12 November, they will present the album live at Ha Concerts, as part of their European tour.
