ZARZAMORA

Zarzamora, the bramble, is in the poetry of flamenco the symbol of the ever-flowing life and in it the combination of love and pain, the sweet fruit in the midst of thorns. In this program the artists perform pure, simple flamenco and talk about their loves and the strange, sometimes painful turns that everyone's path can suddenly take.

ARTISTS

The Sevillian Flamenco dancer Irene Alvarez developed her own characteristic style, which moves between an impulsive, sometimes quite modern expression and the feminine elegance that characterizes is from the Sevillian school. Read her impressive biography.

Carmen Fernandez, singing

As the youngest daughter of a gypsy family, Carmen Fernandez grew up with flamenco. With her powerful, catchy voice, she has previously been the crowd favorite at countless flamenco festivals in Spain, Germany and the Benelux. Read more.

Alexander Gavilán, guitar

Flamenco guitarist Alexander Gavilán combines an orthodox technique with modern, mostly original compositions. His playing is intense and virtuoso. He is a skilled dance and song accompanist, but also gives concerts as a soloist. Read the biography.

Ruven Ruppik, percussion

Percussionist Ruven Ruppik received his first drum lessons at the age of nine and won the "Bundeswettbewerb Jugend Musiziert" in 2004 the solo drums category with the highest score. In addition to his studies at the "Hochschule für Musik Detmold", he attended master classes with Karl Heinz and Michael Stockhausen and played under the direction of Kurt Masur >andPeter Eötvös. In addition to numerous performances, he is currently intensively involved in flamenco, including at Codarts Rotterdam, where he studies Latin percussion.
