Zapp String Quartet

The Zapp String Quartet is known as the most dazzling and hardest-grooving string quartet in the Netherlands. Improvised music, jazz, rock, world music, ... the quartet adapts all genres and plays them with wild enthusiasm. Zapp swings, seduces, moves and excites.

The “Passagio” project was a revelation. Composers from Dutch jazz wrote new compositions, with Zapp as inspiration and as goal. The CD of the same name became a huge success. It would therefore be a shame not to explore this path further.

American and Canadian musicians and composers are brought into the fray for the new project “Jumping the Rocky Mountains”. They write music for the Zapp String Quartet from different perspectives. The rolling grooves of John Scofield, the progressive rock and 'Frank Zappa background' of Mike Keneally, the rich harmonic language of Clare and Brent Fischer and the strong melodic music of Michael Moore are just a few of them. The music fits the quartet like a glove. So sit back comfortably in the Handelsbeurs chairs on October 3 for a sample of streamlined jazz.
