COMME UN AMOUR INCONNU: RECOVERED AND LOST VIOLIN SONATAS

In April 2008, Yossif Ivanov and Itamar Golan were guests at a sold-out Handelsbeurs. Rightly so, because despite his second place in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2005, the then eighteen-year-old Ivanov was the winner for many. “Impressing is not my style,” says the modest violinist. But whether he wants it or not, he still impresses. And that is magnified by the excellent pianist he brings with him this time too. The Latvian Itamar Golan is passionate about chamber music. This is also reflected in the list of chamber music partners such as - we name just a few - Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Mischa Maisky and Janine Jansen. Yossif Ivanov is now well on his way to carving out his own place among these names. With works by Ravel, Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Pärt, Ivanov and Golan reveal some treasures from the expressive repertoire for violin and piano from the 20th century.
