Wim Mertens

When Wim Mertens was born in 1953, his first scream was probably a well-thought-out musical scale. Even as a child he proved to be particularly good at playing the guitar and piano. But Wim Mertens is above all a composer. Anyone who loves film music will certainly love it. Mertens is a master at composing minimalist music, a style based on repetition of a sober basic melody, which is refined by subtle variations. It produces an often gently sloping music line, which lowers a curtain of tranquility over the audience. Listening to Wim Mertens' music is like taking a breath of fresh air after a busy day at work, a sigh of relief. Since his debut in 1980, Mertens has recorded more than 36 albums. In 1982, “Struggle for pleasure”, the song that would later become one of the most famous advertising tunes, was released. Moreover, he also leaves his musical mark on the film and theater world. Plop down on the soft musical sofa that Wim Mertens offers you and enjoy what comes your way.
