At the end of the 1980s, a group emerged in Oslo that plunged into the punk scene and caused a tremendous vibration. Turbonegro profiled itself as a “deathpunk” band and made its definitive breakthrough in 1996 with the album “Ass Cobra”. The album lifted Turbonegro to the top of the underground punk world.
A few member changes, a recording of vocalist Hank Von Helvete in a mental institution and a serious drug addiction later, the group decided to call it a day in 1998. . But the rise of Turbonegro was still unstoppable.
In 1999, Bitzcore Records started re-releasing all of the band's albums. In 2001, a tribute album was released in honor of Turbonegro, which included Queens of the Stone Age, Nashville Pussy, Therapy? and HIM cooperated. While the group itself shrouded itself in silence, it grew into a cult phenomenon worldwide.
In 2003, the band members reunited and continued their punk glory journey as if they had never left. In the Ha' you can see this colorful page from music history at work live. Or as bassist Happy-Tom himself says: "Most rock 'n' roll bands start as a riot but end up as a parody. We started up as a parody but ended up as a revolution."
