Third World Love

The Middle East, Africa and Latin America become one in the music of the Israeli quartet Third World Love. The music floats in the rarefied space between different genres and picks up influences from Monk, Jazz Messengers, Latino, Jewish Klezmer, Mingus, funk, etc. Difficult to categorize, but easy to describe: a beautiful sound that floats on astonishing rhythms. Trumpeter Avishai Cohen gives the whole thing sometimes unprecedented speed and energy, sometimes subdued tranquility. He was described by DownBeat as “a jazz visionary of global proportions”. Every move he makes is met with a wave of praise. As 'Third World Love', together with drummer Daniel Friedman, bassist Amer Avital and pianist Yonatan Avishai, he quickly found his home country Israel, Spain and France. Now it's Belgium's turn. And the campaign of conquest begins in Ghent!
