The Necks / Heleen Van Haegenborgh

THE NECKS

Jazz seems like an elastic notion for The Necks. Not just because the trio’s influences reach far beyond traditional jazz, but also considering the way they run their concerts. Those grow into outright marathons during which a compelling suspense and intensity are maintained. Gradually becoming trance-like listening exercises, they acquire a ritual character and the epic grandeur of widescreen cinema.

Chris Abrahams (piano), Lloyd Swanson (double bass), Tony Buck (drums, percussion)
