Tae-Hyung Kim (piano)

YOUNG MASTERS, OLD SCHOOL

Many people saw the South Korean pianist, Tae-Hyung Kim, who took fifth place in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2010, as the uncrowned winner. His last recital at Handelsbeurs provoked lyrical reviews and his playing is a unique reflection of the intense depth of his mentor Eliso Virsaladze. The best reference he could have for turning his hand to a couple of major works from the Russian repertoire: a young Rachmaninoff and a more mature Prokofiev.

On 21 November Tae-Hyung Kim will be the same age as Mozart was when he composed his Sonata in C minor KV. 457. What better way to demonstrate Mozart’s eternal youth and bring classical music to life.
