18TH-CENTURY WIENERS VS. 20TH-CENTURY POLES
The Polish Szymanowski Quartet performs string quartets by Szymanowski and Penderecki, compositions with Chopin’s lyricism, blended with the suffering of a 20th century full of war and oppression. In a surprising overture, the quartet performs a 16th century Polish polyphony by Szamotuly. There is also room for a confrontation with Viennese classics.
Szymanowski Quartet:
Andrej Bielow & Grzegorz Krotów (violin), Vladimir Mykytka (viola), Marcin Sieniawski (cello)
