Susana Baca

Susana Baca Esther de la Colina (°1944 in Chorillos, Lima, Peru) is a prominent Peruvian singer of African descent, a 'samba' (a mix of black and Indian). As a key figure in the revival of Afro-Peruvian music in her native country, she has contributed greatly to the international popularity of this musical genre. With her music she wants to help build the pride of black Peruvians in their part in the history of their country.

She is coming to the Handelsbeurs to present her latest album 'Afrodiaspora' to set. An album that reflects all the influences that Baca acquired during her years of wanderings on the different parts of the world where she lived and played.
