“THE MOST EXCITING THINGS OUR COUNTRY HAS CREATED SINCE DEUS.”
STUFF. is definitely one of the Belgian revelations of 2015. Last year they released their first album to the world in front of a packed hall at the Handelsbeurs (view photos and review). Now they are rubbing their hands for the 'Hybrid Love' project, aimed at a seated audience, yes.
With a completely new set, they aim their beats purely between the ears, in contrast to their previous approaches to dance escapades in Ghent's White Cat. Their fascination with the technological music evolutions of the last forty to fifty years is central, which immediately sheds new light on the idea of an 'acoustic setting'.
Turntables, synthesizers and MIDI controllers are rampant throughout their jazz and hip-hop-fueled sound. A hybrid substance that will have the consequences on the edge of your seat.
Andrew Claes (sax), Lander Gyselinck (drums), Joris Caluwaerts (keyboards), Dries Laheye (bass), Mixmonster Menno (turntables)
