Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars

Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars are six musicians from Sierra Leone who met in a refugee camp in Guinea. As victims of the bloody civil war that raged in Sierra Leone from 1991 to 2002, they found liberation in their music.

With an infectious and exciting fusion of traditional West African music, roots reggae and rhythm & blues, they give a voice to the thousands of untold stories of the survivors. The songs are about the madness of war and life as a refugee, but are never melancholy. This music works great on the dance muscles.

Despite the personal tragedies of each of the group members, as a music band they managed to spread their message all over the world. American documentary makers Banker White and Zach Niles discovered Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars and followed their wanderings for three years. It resulted in the hugely successful documentary “The Refugee All Stars”, which was also recently shown at the Ghent Film Festival. In 2006, the group realized a dream by releasing their first studio album, “Living Like A Refugee”.

The group found a way to make sense of the civil war in Sierra Leone and became a source of inspiration and a symbol for the healing power of music. Beautiful music and intense emotions... The impact of this concert will live on for a long time.
