Severin von Eckardstein discovered the piano at his neighbors' house and became so fascinated by it that his parents gave him one as a gift for his sixth birthday. Today the German pianist is a fixture in the music world, known for his subtle and balanced piano playing. Last year he could be heard on the opening day of the Klarafestival in Brussels at the North Station and on Place Flagey. Playing in the open air and for a diverse audience requires a concession in the program. A rarity, because according to von Eckardstein he did not understand too much concession to the audience. Yet he does not lack emotion while playing. Like no other, he succeeds in bringing the less accessible and well-known repertoire closer to the listener. With Busoni, Medtner, Liszt, Messiaen and Prokofiev on the program, he promises more than just a sample of his skills.
