Intimate concerts in an imaginary courtyard

The Handelsbeurs opens its doors to the public again! Dive into the summer together with a series of intimate concerts. The concert hall transforms into a green oasis for the occasion, complete with plant jungle, softly singing birds and subdued lighting. Welcome to the Secret Garden of Ghent.

Tamala

The trio Tamala or "travelers", like their name, moves between different instruments and traditions. Naturally, the three balance themselves between tradition and innovation, between strength and refinement, dream and reality, north and south.

Their first album offers an innovative and original repertoire, which carries the Senegalese musical heritage and feeds on the eclectic influences of Mola Sylla, Bao Sissoko and Wouter Vandenabeele.

Tamala's lyrics are in Wolof, Sousou and Pular and are about personal questions, poetic journeys and a call to humility, openness to others and respect for the environment. Tamala takes us on a journey where the sounds of violin and kora merge, and where Mola's voice is the guide that reveals the deepest of the soul.

In addition to songs from their first album, Tamala at Secret Garden already sheds some light on album two. Lumba will be released in September 2021.
