Sananda Maitreya

Sananda Maitreya heard the Beatles at the age of two and saw the light. Today he easily plays the four basic rock instruments: drums, guitar, bass and keyboards. On his current tour, Sananda stops once in Belgium to present his new album 'Angels & Vampires'. As always, he wrote, arranged and produced everything himself.

Sananda Maitreya is the new name of Terence Trent D'Arby. His solo debut album in 1987 sold one million copies within three days. It contained hits such as Dance Little Sister, Wishing Well, Sign Your Name and If You Let Me Stay.

In 1995, after a period of crisis, he decided to change his name and start a new life, with a new identity and new energy for his music. Sananda presents his music as 'post millennium rock', a sound that contains the soul of man, expressing passion, courage and curiosity. Or as he describes it himself: “Raw, real and righteous, no slick, no tricks, just Post Millennium Rock!”

At the age of nineteen she bought herself a guitar, started writing some songs and moved to New York in search of adventure. She recorded an album with the jazzy drum 'n bass formation Etro Anime and was the support act for Kosheen with them. Liset now lives in London and recorded her first solo album, 'No sleep'. Sananda Maitreya couldn't wish for a better warm-up than this dogged singer-songwriter...
