Sam Amidon

CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN COUNTRY FOLK IN DUO

Sam Amidon might bring to mind fiddles, banjos and guitars, but this multi-instrumentalist’s spectrum reaches far beyond that. His experience in New York’s free-jazz scene, experimental rock bands Doveman and Stars Like Fleas, and two records on Iceland’s Bedroom Community label make him perfectly suited to breathe new life in traditional folk, religious hymns and murder ballads.

Leo Abrahams is a pioneering ambient artist and often works with complex arrangements and pioneering use of guitar-generated textures. He has collaborated with Brian Eno, Imogen Heap, Jarvis Cocker and Paul Simon. He's also co-written or arranged a variety of film soundtracks, including Peter Jackson's 'The Lovely Bones' and Steve McQueen's 'Hunger'.

“Bright Sunny South is a breathtaking trip through a universe where each chapter brings a new surprise. Or: ‘how to make refreshing constructions with weathered building blocks’.” (Cobra.be)

“Lily-O may be the finest hour of Amidon’s well-refined approach… his most beautiful and daring arrangements yet.” (All Music)
