Ode to the Russian folkloric singing tradition
This Russian Choir and Folklore Company is young and fresh, buzzing with enthusiasm. However, it is rooted in the age-old tradition of the better Russian choral singing. However, unlike the Sirin Choir and Patriarchate Choir Moscou, two choirs that have previously been guests at the Handelsbeurs and focus on the authentic performance practice of religious music, Veretyontse concentrates on the performance of profane folk songs, improvisations and dance. For several years now, they have been linking all this to a revaluation of folk instruments and are developing their own collection of traditional instruments and costumes that go back to the end of the 17th century. Tonight Veretyontse will present a program with polyphonic songs in which the theme of loyalty plays a central role.
