Rocio Marquez

Despite her 28 years, Andalusian flamenco singer Rocío Márquez is known as “the Star of the South”. Her voice is a deliciously flexible instrument that embodies the essence of flamenco and summons echoes from the past. Singing in the typical Fandango classes of the local Peña Flamenca in Huelva from a very early age, she won the Premio de Fandangos de Huelva when she was only nine. Afterwards, she traveled from competition to competition, eventually winning the prestigious La Làmpara Minera prize in three categories and commencing her ascend to European stardom.

Márquez alternates between different styles and is fascinated by the richness of the vocal flamenco tradition. Her biggest influences are Jose de la Tomasa, Paco Taranto and Miguel Povedo. Prepare to be enchanted by her warm voice packed with emotions.
