Resonance Ghent met Oubys, Sendai & Kangding Ray

Resonance Ghent provides a platform for contemporary, electronic music in all its forms and guises. This year there are again three particularly strong acts on the program:

OUBYS

"It's a path with its own story, with surprising turns and corners" . Influenced by 'kraut' legends Can and Faust, as well as ambient pioneer Brian Eno, Hasselaar Wannes Kolf, as Oubys, knows how to conjure up pulsating soundscapes from his electronic set-up, deep, dark and always surprising.

SENDAI

The Belgian-Berlin duo Sendai (Yves De Mey & Peter Van Hoesen) is increasingly distancing themselves from their habitat, the dance floor. On Geotope, their debut album to be released in March on Time To Express, De Mey's subtle modulations go hand in hand with Van Hoesen's sharp sense of composition and sound design, creating a new dynamic that is extremely suitable for the ear and the eye. After a notable appearance at the Berlin Transmediale festival, a premiere for Belgium.

KANGDING RAY

Shopping between digital and organic, David Lelettier showcases his broad musical background. Behind a drum kit or with a guitar around his shoulders, and nowadays as Kangding Ray, he creates a subtle and rhythmic audiovisual set of digital irregularities, sometimes overdriven, then micro-tonal. With OR, his most recent album, released on the Raster-Noton label in 2011 and featured on many end-of-year lists, he wrote the soundtrack to a collapsing economic system. Kangding Ray, more relevant than ever.
