Flemish top guitar player Raphaella Smits caused quite a stir with her inspired transpositions for eight-string guitar of Bach’s solo works. Critics lauded her arrangements as ‘thrilling’, ‘fabulous’ and ‘captivating from start to finish’. On 10 February, we get the opportunity to witness her exquisite virtuosity in the flesh at the Handelsbeurs, where she will play a replica of the eight stringed Stauffer guitar from 1830 for the occasion.
