In January, the Handelsbeurs was packed twice for the ultimate swing party. Radio Modern is a retro dance evening with banging live bands, flowing petticoats, beautifully dressed women and rockers and, above all, a dance floor filled to the last inch. Thanks to a swing dance lesson from Dancing Sophie, you will know a number of basic steps from Lindy Hop, Swing and Jive in no time with which you can continue all evening long.
Live on stage this time are the unsurpassed Puppini Sisters, a trio that, as a modern version of the Andrew Sisters, dares to challenge Kate Bush, Gloria Gaynor and The Smiths. They sing in 'close harmony', their three voices sound as one and give each song a wonderful fifties twist. In England, the Puppini Sisters are a real hype with their beautiful versions of Bei mir bist du schön and Mr. Sandman or rock covers such as Heart of glass and Wuthering heights.
After the concert, people continue dancing undisturbed to the music of the Boppin Benvis Brothers. Back to the nifty fifties and swinging forties: Radio Modern is a nostalgic trip to the 40s and 50s.
