Quatuor Arod (string quartet)

van Beethoven, Webern and von Zemlinsky

Slow splendor

Arod is a small place on the Swedish coast. It is also the name of a son of the Bible character Gad and of Legolas’ horse in Tolkien’s works. We have no idea which of the three inspired the Quatuor Arod.

But these French gentlemen are certainly impatient to share their passion for chamber music. They do this with one of the finest slow movements ever written: Anton Webern’s Langsamer Satz.
